The reasons why the pregnancy rumors surrounding Simone Biles are unfounded
Biles has refrained from disclosing whether or not she is pregnant or expecting a child, despite the rumors.
The allegations that she was pregnant were primarily disseminated on Facebook, with the assertion that Fox News had reported that she was “expecting a baby.” Nevertheless, in an email correspondence with Snopes, Fox News denied that it had issued any such report.
The investigation revealed that the rumor originated on August 5, when a Facebook profile named “Daily Mail Report 2.0” posted about Simone Biles’ pregnancy on Facebook. The profile included a link to a website called usalod.com, which “did not appear to be a trustworthy source of news.” The article contained a purported quote from Biles, which read, “I am enthusiastic about the upcoming chapter of my life, which will be spent with my expanding family.”
However, the fact-checking website determined that the article in question was most likely generated by AI and was unable to locate any information regarding the purported author, “Valeria Yancy.” However, the article was heavily promoted and circulated on Facebook, resulting in a significant number of users believing it to be accurate.
In terms of Biles’ stated desire for children, she stated on the Today show on August 6, 2024 that she and her husband were “always” discussing the possibility of having children. It is not a far-fetched notion that Biles would retire for a year or two after the 2024 Paris Olympics to have children, as she also “most definitely” sees herself as a mother. Biles also expressed her desire for “two children” on Instagram in 2022, as reported by TMZ, while her husband expressed his desire for “three children.”
